Starter Metro1983 Lucas M35J
Hello, My starter didn't turn in the car. Testing it on a bench it did turn. I assembled and connected it directly to the battery as on the bench: positive lead to the terminal post, negative lead to the bracket. But then when I closed the circuit at the battery pole, it again didn't turn, and it se...

Re: A-Series 83 Steering Rack
It seems impossible to change RH to LH, and finding a LH rack is difficult.

A-Series 83 Steering Rack
Hello, Is it possible to use RH steering rack in a LH drive car by just interchanging the tie-rods, or it will not fit? Haynes shows three types of steering racks for models: 1)80-84, 2)85, 3)86 on. Are they compatible with 80-84 Metro, using same simple flexible coupling? Or there is another type s...

Re: Thread of Hydragas pipework A SERIES
Thank you DotMatrix.
As to the second question: the brake hose is M10, so in order to make a plug I cut an old hose and soldered the unthreaded end.
But perhaps the brake hose's cone and the inner cone of the Hydragas connector do not match?

Thread of Hydragas pipework A SERIES
Hello, A topic similar to minorconfusion's. 1) Is the thread of the two ports in the 3-way connector of the rear suspension, a M10x1? 2) I want to plug one of the ports. What type is the cone of the plug, in case there are several standards? 3) If a correct plug which will not damage the port is una...

Caliper types A, B ('83 model)
Hello,
There are different pads for for the two caliper types.
But are the complete calipers (with correct pads) interchangeable?
Thank you.

Re: 1983 Mk1 only first and reverse gears operative
Thank you- I had no connection to the internet, therefore my late response.
I'll try, car on stands, to go from first to third while wheels are turning, and see if there is a grinding noise.

Re: 1983 Mk1 only first and reverse gears operative
Probably I don"t know how clutch slip feels. However, from standing I can move the car on first , reverse, and even second gear by releasing the clutch carefully. But while the car is going, and it is on first gear, there is a grinding sound when I try to engage the second. There is no leak under th...
