Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

Reassembled, washed and the plastics blacked, it looks a lot better:

I also have the Rover 100 sill covers to fit, which will smarten it a bit more.

Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

Time for some paint. Remove the side window, bodymask over the whole car, cut out over the quarter and tape the edges down: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jhfw4w1l3unb91r/Masked%20ForPaint.jpg?raw=1 About 5 minutes of actual painting(which includes doing the replacement wing): https://www.dropbox.com/s/p...

Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

Moving on to the bodywork, this arch repair was done by the previous owner. I would have cut the panel considerably smaller, and not welded it as close to the bodyline. This would have meant much less finishing work to hide all the distortion: https://www.dropbox.com/s/49enewo0bkgkko9/Start.jpg?raw=...

Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

The rear valence was like this when I bought the car: https://www.dropbox.com/s/do3qw33ue9r2xar/RearValenceAsBought.jpg?dl=1 Replaced the inner valence: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4jbuyfh1mh0gnf8/InnerValenceRepair.jpg?dl=1 and then the outer: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1x0fa0xs0hxkb3m/FinishedRearVal...

Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

The previous owner lost all of the boot trim and as I'm trying to make the car as civilised as I can, I had a root through my stash of useful stuff. Which resulted in a pair of these: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b7g2tlgynj2a4sj/GluedandStapled.jpg?dl=1 and in place: https://www.dropbox.com/s/trcsv5cnt...

Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

I've been nibbling away at the welding the MOT tester required, which included replacing the entire lower rear valence and where it wraps round into the wheelarches; attaching the previously 'repaired' NSR wheel arch to the inner structure(it wasn't attached to ANY of it  ), redoing a similar...

Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

I've been busy with ringing and a holiday, so it was time to do a bit more: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yxpg03iar17rh17/MetroExhausts.jpg?dl=1 that's the GTi exhaust that the car came with(leaking at every joint and the silencer baffles rattling) and a new Sportex system with polyurethane mounts. What...

Re: Nick's VVC tidyup

Well, it's been a month and not a week, but the driver's sill is now done. No pics, but they'd just be a mirror image of the ones I've already posted  While I had the carpet up and trim panels out, I've made a start on the Dynamat; it's along the inner sill, and covering as much as the quarter ...

Lower?? It's already on the floor with rolled arches to cover the wider wheels. Once I've sorted a hydrogas pump, I'll probably raise it a bit.
