VVC Metro

Post by SamC12 »

So I'm kind of looking for a VVC metro :twisted:I have never owned one and really fancy one. Not sure where to start or what to look for or anything. But i know i want a good one. Needs to be pretty low, have alloys and of course have a 1.8 k-series. Not sure what good proper cars go for as I've only ever seen rubbish ones for sale or half finished ones/projects. Haven't got endless cash and a huge budget but i'm not expecting a car for £500. I'm not daft lol .. So yeah, if anyone knows of one or has one then please let me know so i can see if this is going to work for me. Cheers people !

Welcome along! have you looked on the for sale page on facebook? generally seem to go around the £1500 mark for a clean VVC. 1.8 wise you can go solid cam which depending on budget could be a better option?

So i googled MetroPower and here i am haha .. £1500 is more than doable so thats good to know. I just want it to look cool. Sleeper is fine ish but i'm a fussy bugger lol I will have a look on that page now. Thank you for the help buddy

More than welcome! i picked my Rover 100 Knightsbridge SE 160vvc converted for a little over £1200 but the suspension is shot, had to do the head gasket after a week of owning it, So originally was a buy to keep but has turned into a buy to restore!
Lots of bits to do! good luck with the hunt and hope you find something you like. I would definately suggest having a look on the FB page as there are a few on there that are in great condition and modded :-)

i don't mind doing a few bits but i have my other car for a ongoing project type thing ... Headgasket ? on a k series ? nooooo :lol:but that's life right. Its all good fun .. Well I've joined the FB for sale/wanted page and the normal one and haven't been accepted. It seems this forum and the fb page isn't that active really. Shame as i'm dead keen to get into it lol

I recently drove this one home for £450:

the sills need to be replaced(I've done one so far), but it's pretty good elsewhere, and I couldn't buy the necessary parts to convert a car for what I paid.

That's my favourite shape ! If that was a fair bit lower, on team dynamics qualifiers and with a 160 engine in it that would be perfect !

Sadly yes a HG failed, However i did take the time to have the head done at the same time with polish and port, vortexed inlet, reground & reangled valves as well as stronger head bolts, reenforced HG, new water pump etc..
