Hi, I wondered if anyone could help. I have a 1997 Metro1.4 Auto. I replaced the alternator a while back, but hadn’t had the chance to start her since. I started her up at the weekend, went to turn her off at the key – engine wouldn’t stop. Pulled wires from battery – still wouldn’t stop, was ticking over just fine still, though. I Pulled the relay and she cut out. Now, after a little trial and error I can start her up, then turn the key to the off position - put the main beam on – and then it will cut the engine straihgt away. Any ideas what’s happening?? And even better, how to cure it?!

I would try the fusebox, the clue was putting the headlights on, the small relay
inside the fuse isn't man enough for even std headlight bulbs, let alone uprated
ones, so it fries the corner of the fusebox where that relay is fitted, you have to
pull the fusebox apart to inspect the area around the relay on the pcb.
