Tuning 1.4 8V carb

Hi all, before anyone says convert the engine or sell the car and buy a faster one etc, that's not what I want to do i like the car and like a carberetur engine. I'm a mature driver, I don't want to gain much speed or hp, I personally like the noise and the unrestricted feeling to an easy breathing straight through car.

So what are my options? Currently have a mild steel exhaust with standard manifold and downpipe and what I think is a silencer up near the front. Also have a K&N filter in the standard box.

Is the only thing to maybe put an open filter on it and tune the carb to suit?

Thanks in advance

At one point a 8v janspeed tubular manifold Was available but i Guess they are hard to find now.
You could start porting the inlet and have the needle reprofiled to suit also. I am not sure you Will gain much HP from an old style k&n filter, probably primarily sound

Flip I'd say they are like hens teeth! I thought the open air filter lets more air in so put more fuel in and get more bang. The noise and free revving interests me more than the HP gain. I drive a diesel all week so like to jump into something with a bit of a rasp and even a pop or bang from the exhaust. Remind me of my teenage years

A k&n cone Will only help with flow if your current airbox is a restriction and i wouldnt think it Was but i dont know. But IT certainly Will add Sound:-)

Try searching the old forum for swapping in a 1.4 8v cam in your 1.1. I remember that being mentioned as an upgrade
