Tyre wear
Tyre wear
My front tyres are wearing really badly on just the inside edges. The tyres are nearly new, but now the square edges on the insides of the tyres are rounded off though not penetrated yet to the cords. My question is, is this wheel alignment or is it suspension in need of inflation - do the wheels sag in at the top as the suspension deflates? Cheers in advance.
Re: Tyre wear
Yes the car does gain negative Camber with low suspension but not that much. I would check the tracking and if that isnt off then the suspension bushes and bearings

Re: Tyre wear
Went and got the tracking adjusted and it was out. The steering is now lighter and so I'll see how it goes - might swap the tyres front to back too, in order to offset the wear on the front tyres.
I regularly grease the suspension as apparently it's an awful job to replace any neglected parts - not to say expensive. The suspension is a bit low, and sometimes there is a scraping noise from the rear of the car when going over big bumps but I prefer it like that providing that there are no adverse effects.
Re: Tyre wear
good. I hope the tracking sorted your wear problems.
yes it takes a bit of work to remove top front suspension arms or rear radius arms, but the worst thing is when they wear through the bearings and into the cast metal arm so you need a new arm as well.
a low metro can be fine as long as it was lowered by shortening the suspension rods and not just letting out fluid.

Re: Tyre wear
Swapped the tyres front to back and re-torqued nuts. Inflated correctly and now the steering is almost PAS - light.
