Fan unit removal - 114 GSI

Sorry for a question that's no doubt been solved before, just couldn't find anything on searching.
The leak I have in the car is coming from around the blower unit, so I want to remove and reseal it. I am assuming it isn't just the four or so bolts I can see securing it to the body under the bonnet?
Any help or tips appreciated 👍

I believe there is bolts from bellow also.

if water is coming in through the blower unit have you cleaned the water drain in the blower motor?

by the way. ralph (component engineering) on ebay sells new seals.

Good stuff, thanks for that. Aye the drain is clear and water flows out nicely but when it's directed around the unit it's dribbling in then. That's handy, will go get a seal from him 👍

I had the same thing in my 1993 1.1 carb version. I removed the blower unit which is secured from above and also below on the bulkhead of the passenger footwell - six fixings in all (I think). I then split the case by removing the clips and screws and ran silicone sealant around the seams before reassembly. I re-sealed the mounting area before refitting it and the leak stopped. Whilst mine was leaking I was amazed at the sheer amount of water that was absorbed into the under-carpet sound deadening material - several pints.

Excellent, think I will seal it along the seams too then. Aye, I have already used a vax to sook out some of the water, looked to be over litre and there is still plenty in there.
I think I will remove the carpet once leak is sorted and give it a real good clean to get rid of the damp smell. Either that or get a black one to fit instead.
