Has anyone ever had a cam belt fail on a 1.1 K series?

Thanks. I sometimes worry about mine since it's old but looks OK. I wouldn't like to change it just for the new one to fail or for me to get other problems due to fitting it wrongly. I'll wait for the water pump to go and then change it then. "If it ain't broke..."

If you remove the plastik cover its pretty easy to see if the belt is wearing thin, cracking or any thing. For ease of mind maybe you should do that?

It is not my intention to stoke fears, but if old enough any cam belt can fail.
not a K-series but the last one i've seen just lost 3 teeth down at the crankshaft pulley and the pistons smashed into the valves. but the rest of the belt looked quite good.
sure a good quality belt has a good safety margin built it, but i wouldn't push the limit to far.

Just to finish off this thread - I replaced my timing belt and tensioner pulley a couple of weeks ago so that's done. The old belt did have signs of cracking and the idler pulley was a bit rough. The process wasn't difficult.
